In the last 2 days we have driven about 900 miles. Today (Sunday) was shorter than yesterday, but I am just as tired at the end of it.

Day 2- Canada, Ann Arbor, Indiana Dunes, Chicago
After doing some math and trying to figure out a central time conversion, we decided to leave our hotel at 7 am. Being in Canada, we could not use the phone GPS. We also had no maps (except for the cached one on my dad's IPad). Anyway, we left the hotel, printed directions in hand... and our first highway was closed. Between some Tim Horton's timbits and looking at the IPad we figured out how to get back on track. The trip to the border (In Sambia Michigan) took a long time, and the toll line to take the bridge seemed to take even longer (not customs, just tolls). Conviently we also finsihed Harry Potter 1 right as we crossed the border. We then rolled through Michigan, into Ann Arbor on game day (luckily after kickoff) and continued onto I-90 where I drove 187 miles without a single direction from the GPS. The Midwest.

| The last 2 miles... |
This left us at Indiana Dunes state park, where we intended to run on trail 10. We failed at finding trail 10 until a lucky chance encounter after running through about 150 campsites. The main problem with trail 10- over 2 miles is deep, sandy beach. We had misunderstood where central time started, so suddenly we had a time crunch to make it to Chicago. We made it to Chicago, and found parking in the underground lot rather easily (bonus: there were 10 tesla charging stations). After checking in (see picture of our hotel below, it is the tallest building ever designed by a woman, and every balcony is unique), we headed to dinner with Brendon's family and roommates.
The food was Israeli/Mediterranean, which is not exactly what either of us would have chosen. Good bread, and a great rotisserie chicken dish got us through. At this point, dad bowed out, but I went off to a local brewery with Brendon and family. Altogether, a very fun, but very busy night in Chicago.
Day 3- Wisconsin
Our first stop in Wisocnsin was Madison- revisiting dad's stomping grounds and seeing Rachel. We went out to brunch/lunch at the Old Fashioned. I ate too many cheese curds and a delicious Wisconsin root beer. We pushed through to the crane foundation for the 3 pm tour, where we impressed the guide with our travels to the Okovongo Delta. I learned about the near extinction of the whooping crane, and the ridiculous measures taken to save it. They also have walkways made of recycled glass, which apparently does not cause runoff the same way that paved walkways do.

After that we drove to La Crosse, and went straight out to run. Everywhere in Wisconsin seems to be great for running/biking, and La Crosse is not the exception. We did 4 miles on the marsh trails/ riverfront trails and it was gorgeous. I forgot my camera, of course. We finished off the night with some Culvers (amazing midwest custard/fast food) and now it is time to rest up for the 600+ miles awaiting us in the morning.
